OrgsinSolidarity Conference: Standing Together in 2021

The inaugural Organizations in Solidarity conference was hosted by Women of Color Advancing Peace and Security (WCAPS) United States and United Kingdom Chapter. This conference opened dialogue and delivered programming around ways to combat racism and discrimination in all of its forms, in order to diversify the fields of peace and security, foreign policy, and national security.

The two-day conference featured listening sessions, showcasing our 13 working groups that coincide with our 12 commitments outlined in our Solidarity statements “Standing Against Racism” and Forming the Future which is dedicated to including early and budding career professionals. Participants had an opportunity to hear from leaders in each of our groups as well as engage in dialogue about ways in which to better tackle these issues. The conference culminated in a Career Fair, that allowed candidates from diverse backgrounds to meet and network with organizations from across the peace, security, and foreign policy fields and learn about opportunities for advancement, and pair of webinars focused on board diversity and helping aspiring and early career professional break into the fields of peace, security, and foreign policy.

The event had:

424 registrants from twenty-five countries around the world. We facilitated 280 personal connections.

24 organizations were represented from across the peace, security, and foreign policy fields at the career fair on day two of the conference. These organizations ranging from think tanks and academic institutions to advocacy organizations and philanthropic foundations, and even government agencies.
