The OrgsinSolidarity Mentorship Hub

Successful mentorship benefits professionals of color through expedited career advancement; a greater sense of comfort and belonging; more expansive community and networks; increased exposure and encouragement to pursue opportunities; elevated access to jobs and leadership; and unbiased support and guidance.

Having employees engaged in mentorship offers organizations better performance; higher employee engagement; reduced turnover; a sustainable, self-supporting model for impact; and a research-backed pathway to racial diversification of its staff and decision-makers.

What the hub does:

Through this community and resource hub, we aim to increase the accessibility and quality of mentorship in the fields of peace, security, and foreign policy.

To do this, we are building out this platform to:

  1. define common language and concepts related to mentorship;

  2. highlight the impact of mentorship on individuals and organizations;

  3. outline recommended practices and tools for mentors and mentees; and

  4. create space for resource and idea sharing among practitioners who share our vision.

Mentorship is one of the most effective ways peace, security, and foreign policy organizations and individuals can improve diversity, equity, and inclusion within and across these fields.

Increasing the accessibility and quality of mentorship in our space can amplify the impact of peace, security, and foreign policy efforts and enable our community to better detect, address, and prevent cultures of exclusion, practitioner burnout, and organizational ineffectiveness.
